AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Package

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting new program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is an incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken the time to take their puppies through a basic training class.

Testing and Certification: $300                    
Puppies under 1 year of age will learn the basics and start their journey towards being great companion dogs. 
Your puppy will receive the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Medal and will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records. 
In addition, so that you can continue learning, you’ll receive our AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy package that includes:
A beautiful, frameable certificate designating your puppy is in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records at AKC
AKC Puppy Handbook, a valuable resource
Discount to enroll in AKC Companion Animal Recovery Corporation, a 24-hour recovery service
Ongoing Monthly Email Newsletter: Your AKC. This includes training tips and up-to-date information every dog owner needs to know. We want you and your puppy to continue learning beyond puppy classes.
Nothing is more rewarding than a well-behaved companion dog. Through positive reinforcement you can show them what your rules and expectations are. I provide personalized training in your home to target your dog’s specific personality. I also provide support after the training sessions.  

In-home training allows me to analyze the environmental factors affecting your dog’s behavior. Your dog’s specific distractions and behavioral triggers are in your home. It makes sense to train in their every day environment.

AKC Canine Good Citizen Package

The Canine Good Citizen Program stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. The CGC is often a prerequisite for various community events such as visiting schools and hospitals.   



     Test Preparation: $50 a session

   Canine Good Citizen Test: $50                    

Is your dog ready for the Challenge?

Test 1: Accepting a friendly stranger

Demonstrate that the dog will allow a friendly stranger to approach it and speak to the handler in a natural, everyday situation.

Test 2: Sitting politely for petting

Demonstrate that the dog will allow a friendly stranger to touch it while it is out with its handler.

Test 3: Appearance and grooming

Demonstrate that the dog will welcome being groomed and examined and will permit someone, such as a veterinarian, groomer or friend of the owner, to do so. It also demonstrates the owner's care, concern and sense of responsibility.

Test 4: Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead)

Demonstrate that the handler is in control of the dog.

Test 5: Walking through a crowd

Demonstrate that the dog can move about politely in pedestrian traffic and is under control in public places..

Test 6: Sit and down on command and Staying in place

Demonstrate that the dog has training, will respond to the handler's commands to sit and down and will remain in the place commanded by the handler

Test 7: Coming when called

Demonstrate that the dog will come when called by the handler.

Test 8: Reaction to another dog

Demonstrate that the dog can behave politely around other dogs.

Test 9: Reaction to distraction

Demonstrate that the dog is confident at all times when faced with common distracting situations.

Test 10: Supervised separation

This test demonstrates that a dog can be left with a trusted person, if necessary, and will maintain training and good manners.
